RULES AND REGULATIONS

RIDE FOR RATIONS 2025 ("RfR2025")

Registration is subject to the acceptance of the Rules and Regulations contained herein and compliance with any additional governmental/regulatory directives that may be imposed upon Ride for Rations 2025 (“the event”).

Section 1: General Rules

  1. RfR2025 is a fundraising event organised by Bike-Aid (Singapore) (“Bike Aid”) in collaboration with Sunlove Abode for Intellectually Infirmed Ltd (“Sunlove”).
  2. Fundraising by participants is mandatory and a prerequisite for participation.
    1. Participants must raise a minimum sum of SGD500 in order to participate in RfR2025.
    2. The minimum sum of SGD500 must be raised by 15 August 2025.
    3. Participants must demonstrate commitment to the fundraising effort, failing which they will be withdrawn from RfR2025 without any refund of the registration fee. The registration fee in this case, will be donated to Sunlove nett of expenses incurred up to the date of withdrawal.
    4. The above mandatory fundraising requirement applies equally to participants whose registration fee is paid for by their organisation or whose organisation is a corporate donor/sponsor.
      1. In the case where a corporate sponsor creates a fundraising page online for its participants in RfR2025, the total amount raised through this fundraising page must correspond with the minimum expected fundraising amount per participant stated above. Specifically: number of riders x SGD500.
    5. Participants who assist in raising funds from corporations or organisations can contact Bike Aid; funds raised successfully through this effort will be attributed to their fundraising commitment.
  3. RfR2025 is a two-day ride from Singapore to Melaka that will be held as follows:
    1. Day 1: 12 September 2025, Friday
      Ride from Singapore to Batu Pahat (approx. 145km)
    2. Day 2: 13 September 2025, Saturday
      Ride from Batu Pahat to Melaka (approx. 103km)
    3. Day 3: 14 September 2025, Sunday
      Travel from Melaka to Singapore by Coach
  4.  Bike-Aid reserves the right to amend or adjust the Rules and Regulations of the event without prior notice to the participants.
  5. All participants are required to read, comprehend, understand and follow the stipulated Rules and Regulations, event signs and directions, and verbal instructions given to them during the course of the event.
  6. Participants are advised to check our website, bikeaid.org.sg, as well as our Bike-Aid (Singapore) & Ride for Rations Facebook pages regularly for any updates or amendments with regards to the event instructions and information.
  7. Bike-Aid and related sponsors, officials and other staff, will not be held responsible for the cancellation of the event due to unforeseen circumstances, e.g. weather conditions, travel restrictions, government advisories, etc.
  8. All participants are required to attend the pre-event briefing, which will be scheduled within 4 weeks prior to the start of the event.
  9. First time participants are also required to attend a compulsory briefing on the purpose of Ride for Rations, before their registration can be confirmed. This briefing will be conducted at one of the rations distribution venues unless circumstances dictate that it be conducted online.
  10. All participants are encouraged to be involved in the distribution of rations between the months of April and August. This will give participants the opportunity to witness how the funds are applied and meet some of the beneficiaries of this fundraising effort.
  11. Participants are responsible for ensuring that they are able and eligible to travel to Malaysia, such as complying with health regulations (e.g. having required health vaccinations and certifications, etc.) and customs and immigrations rules (e.g. a valid passport, pre-departure documentation, appropriate visa/permits, mobile apps, etc.).

 

Section 2: Participation

  1. Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis, and it is subject to a maximum capacity as determined by Bike-Aid.
  2. Bike-Aid reserves the right to accept or reject participation in RfR2025.
  3. All participants must be 21 years of age and above. Participation for those under 21 years old is subject to the following:
    1. Evaluation of their road cycling competency
    2. Supervision by an assigned and responsible adult when cycling, preferably the parent or guardian.
  4. All participants must raise funds for the cause as stated in Section 1.
  5. All participants must pay the following RfR2025 registration fees:
    1. SGD330/- (twin-sharing) or SGD420/- (single room)
    2. Optional additional apparel:
      1. SGD30 (T-shirt option)
      2. SGD50 (Jersey option)
    3. The fees above exclude costs that may arise from the use of the registration portal and/or online payment portal.
    4. Participants must top up additional costs that may arise from new travel measures that may be put in place by the relevant government authorities subsequent to the launch of the registration in 2025, such as, but not limited to, COVID-19 pre-departure and on-arrival tests.
    5. For participants who opt for twin-sharing accommodation: in the event that the assigned room-mate, whether indicated as preferred or otherwise, is not able to participate in RfR2025, Bike Aid will re-allocate the rooming based on twin-sharing accommodation. If a participant prefers to not have such a change, which would effectively make his/her accommodation a single room accommodation, the participant has to pay the difference in cost between the fees for single and twin-sharing accommodation.
  6. By registering, each participant certifies that he/she is physically and mentally fit to complete the event and does not have any medical (physical or mental) condition whatsoever, which would inhibit his/her completion of the event. Participants must also ensure that they possess a reasonable level of cycling proficiency that will allow them to complete the event successfully and safely, including confidence in, and the etiquette of cycling in groups.
    1. Upon acceptance of registration, each participant is responsible for ensuring his/her physical readiness for the demands of the event.
    2. The participant is also responsible for having himself/herself certified at his/her own cost by a qualified and Singapore registered medical doctor that he/she is medically fit for such an event should he/she have medical issues that arise after registration.
  7. It is mandatory for first time Ride for Rations participants [cyclist] or others as determined by Bike-Aid, to attend a readiness assessment session involving cycling at least 80km on the road. This assessment is likely to be done in July 2025. Alternatively, they may submit data from mobile apps like Strava that demonstrate regular long-distance on-road cycling of at least 100km distance per ride or a cumulative distance of 180 km over 2-3 rides done within a period of 7 days, demonstrating having undertaken these in the month of July 2025. This assessment is to ensure their physical readiness to participate in RfR2025.
  8. Where a participant is withdrawn from the event as a result of not meeting the various requirements for RfR2025 such as but not limited to fundraising, the registration fee will not be refunded. The conditions with regards to registration fee and funds raised will be that of the case where a participant withdraws from RfR2025, details of which are found herein.
  9. Participants are required to adhere to traffic rules and regulations at all times during the event for their safety. They are required to follow instructions and cycle in a single or double paceline as per road traffic rules and regulations, including those governing the use of cycling paths such as the Park Connector Network (PCN).
  10. Bike-Aid reserves the right to disqualify any participant who poses a safety hazard to himself/herself and/or others. He/she will not be allowed to continue and no refunds will be made.
    1. Overtaking of the lead cyclist marshall of the designated group is strictly not allowed as is grabbing of refreshments from support crew whilst cycling.
      1. Participants who choose to ride ahead of their designated group will be deemed to be cognizant of the risks of doing so and the potential delays in receiving response to medical, technical and other emergencies that may arise.
    2. The on the ground decisions made by the RfR2025 support team, including the medical team, and/or Bike-Aid will be binding on the participant. This includes decisions on the participant having to discontinue the ride and board a designated support vehicle.
    3. Participants must comply with the instructions of assigned group cyclist marshall(s)and/or those of the support crew.
    4. Where a participant disregards such instruction(s)/decision(s), the participant shall be deemed a non-RfR2025 participant and
      1. shall not fall under the organisational support being rendered during the ride.
      2. will not be allowed to cycle in the RfR2025 pelotons.
      3. will be responsible for making his/her own arrangements for the remainder of the distance.
      4. the relevant indemnity of organisation agreed upon during registration shall remain binding.
  11. Participants have obligations to themselves and to others to act safely and comply with all Rules and Regulations.

 

Section 3: Registration

  1. All registration will be done online through the official event website at www.bikeaid.org.sg.
  2. Incomplete registrations which contain incorrect or fraudulent information will be deemed invalid and rejected. Such registrations will be invalidated without any refunds.
  3. The closing date for registrations is 15 June 2025 in order to guarantee accommodation and event attire. In the event that the maximum capacity is reached before the closing date, the online registration portal will be closed.
  4. All participants should receive a confirmation email verifying their successful registration at least one week before the commencement of the event. Additional details can be found on our website.
  5. Participants agree to have any un-utilised registration fees donated to the cause (Sunlove) that RfR2025 is supporting.
  6. Withdrawal of registration/participation:
    1. In cases of withdrawal of participants, there will be no refund of registration fee (For participants who withdraw prior to June 2025, he/she may provide a replacement for his/her place. The replacement shall be subject to all the criteria laid down in the Rules and Regulations. Provision of jersey for the replacement participant is not guaranteed and is subject to the timeline and processes stipulated by the jersey supplier, which is beyond Bike Aid’s control.
    2. All registration fees, less expenses incurred for RfR2025 up to the point of withdrawal in the above condition, will be donated to the cause supported by RfR2025.
    3. Such a participant is responsible for submitting all funds raised up to that point, to Bike Aid.
    4. In the event of cancellation of the event due to unforeseen circumstances such as weather, natural calamities, political unrest, etc, registration fees less expenditure incurred up to the point of the cancellation will be donated to the cause. In this case, the amount shall accrue towards the participant’s fundraising effort.

 

Section 4: Collection of data

  1. Participants agree and give their consent to Bike-Aid to receive, collect, store, access, use and disclose information for the purposes set out below and participants acknowledge that it is reasonable for Bike-Aid to so act in relation to such purposes in the given circumstances:
    1. for the purposes of facilitating and/or enabling good governance, record-keeping, administration, research, surveys, analysis, evaluation, risk or other management reasons
    2. for the purposes of facilitating and/or obtaining the required or necessary approvals, permits or licences from, or filings or reportings, or other formalities of whatever nature to or with the relevant authorities or regulators and other parties, in relation to RfR2025, before, during or after RfR2025
    3. for the purpose of obtaining goods and services to support RfR2025
    4. for the purposes of facilitating and/or enabling staff on hand during or after RfR2025 to provide or procure evacuation, transport, medical or hospital treatments and care to participants in the event of accident or illness, and that such Information is not intended to be a waiver (whether in whole or in part) of the terms and conditions of this agreement.
  2. Participants unconditionally grant Bike-Aid the right to photograph, film, videotape record and/or otherwise reduce into material form, the participant and further, to use the participant’s name, likeness, pose, voice, statements, appearance (including any performance of any activities), any biographical material concerning the participant and any reproductions or adaptations thereof, and the edit of the same in connection with RfR2025 in whole or in part, without restriction or limitation and for an unlimited number of times, in or through any and all media formats. Participants shall not at any time object to or raise any claim against Bike Aid for usage of the aforesaid.

 

Section 5: Attire & Safety

  1. Participants are required to wear the event jersey on day 1 and are strongly encouraged to wear it on day 2 for easy identification. As an alternative, participants may wear jerseys of previous Ride for Rations events for day 2.
  2. Participants must wear a helmet when cycling in RfR2025, including training rides.
  3. Participants are required to have appropriate front (white) and rear (red) bicycle lights and keep them on during low visibility conditions.
  4. Participants are required to use appropriate footwear at all times during the event.
  5. Participants are required to adhere to safety and directional related instructions given during the event or during training rides.
  6. Bike-Aid reserves the right to stop any participant who poses a safety risk and/or threat to himself/herself/themselves and/or others from continuing his/her/their participation in RfR2025.
  7. No changes to the size of the event jersey/T-shirt are allowed upon the order placement of the jersey/T-shirt and receipt of the jersey/T-shirt. We will adhere strictly to the size that participants indicated on the registration form or otherwise provided to and accepted by Bike Aid.

 

Section 6: Equipment and Provision

  1. Participants must use their own bicycles during the event and training rides.
  2. In the interest of safety, tri bikes, tandem bikes, fixies and recumbent bikes are not permitted for use in RfR2025. If in doubt, contact Bike Aid for clarification prior to registration.
  3. Participants are encouraged to bring along personal items for their own well-being and comfort during RfR2025 e.g. sunblock, sunglasses, cap, seat padding, water bottles, etc.

 

Section 7: Grouping of cyclists

  1. Participants will be grouped based on their declared rolling speed.
    1. Bike Aid will attempt to group participants according to their preference stated during the registration process. However, in the interest of participant safety, other considerations will be taken into account such as but not limited to, the cycling fitness of the participant or his/her declared rolling speed.
  2. Bike Aid has the final say in the allocation of participants to a cycling group. This applies to participants who represent corporate donors or whose registration fees are borne by their organisation.
